A message from Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham and RT Hon Baroness Beverley Hughes, Deputy Mayor - Policing, Crime and Fire
Thank you for your interest in becoming the Chief Constable for Greater Manchester Police (GMP). Greater Manchester Police is the police force responsible for law enforcement within the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester in North West England. It is the fourth largest police service in the United Kingdom and is the second largest force in England and Wales.
This is a challenging time for us as police and public services continue to tackle complex issues in the face of over-stretched resources and the pandemic. The support and resilience of our communities has shone through as always, helping Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and our partners to deliver a real difference for our citizens, particularly those who are most vulnerable.
This is a truly exciting time to join GMP. We are about to commence a challenging transformation journey which directly responds to outcomes from the Manchester Arena Inquiry and the Victim Services Assessment by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for Constabularies and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).
We are looking for an exceptional Chief Constable to lead and shape this complex and ambitious agenda, working with our political leaders, our workforce, our diverse communities and our key partners to bring about a cultural shift which embraces collaboration and fosters a sense of trust and pride in the organisation and the service it provides to the city region.
It is always our aim to provide the most efficient and effective services possible, putting people first and continually seeking to develop and grow, through hard work, empowerment, innovation and collaboration. We hope you will share our passion and commitment to improving lives in Greater Manchester and we look forward to hearing from you.
Andy Burnham Rt Hon Baroness Beverley Hughes
Mayor of Greater Manchester Deputy Mayor for Policing, Crime and Fire
